A teacher in the Patchogue-Medford Union Free School District was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday, police say.
Police say Nicholas Clemente, of Yaphank, is charged with criminal mischief.
In a letter to parents, the superintendent confirmed the arrested, saying it was for a "non-school-related matter."
The district website lists Clemente as a cross county coach at Oregon Middle School.
Clemente pleaded not guilty Thursday.
