Suffolk police say the death of a man whose body was found early Sunday morning in Brentwood appears to be criminal in nature.

Detectives say officers responded to a 911 call about a man lying in a parking lot at 159 Clarke St. at 4:40 a.m.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Community members told News 12 the discovery is just the latest of many incidents that make them very uneasy.

"All these things that are happening are making us not be as comfortable as we want to be in the community that I have been raised in all of my life," said resident Liana Gomez-Vigil.

Police had not released the name of the victim as of Sunday night pending family notification.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
