31-year-old motorcyclist dies after crashing into tree, utility pole in East Islip

The rider was transported to South Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 31-year-old man died early Sunday morning after his motorcycle left the roadway and crashed in East Islip, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the man was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Main Street near Harrison Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. when it left the roadway and struck a tree before hitting a utility pole.

The rider was transported to South Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety inspection.
