It's not something you see every day: a boat that sells ice cream!

Mann’s Homemade Ice Cream is spending weekends this summer bringing the sweet treat directly to boaters and people with docks in their backyards.

Owner Eric Mann and his daughter, Caitlin, rotate five homemade flavors aboard the family’s ice cream boat, combining their love of boating with their family-run shop.

“We are a boating family, so it made sense to incorporate our homemade ice cream store in Amityville with boating and bringing it out to the South Shore,” Eric Mann said.

The family can be found at different boating hotspots, including Massapequa Cove, Hemlock Cove and Zach’s Bay.

For Caitlin Mann, who manages the store, the response has been especially sweet.

“A lot of people love it and I am happy other people love it as much as we do!” she said.

The family plans to continue taking the ice cream boat out on the water every weekend through about the end of September.
