A woman and infant are dead after a boat capsized near the Statue of Liberty Saturday night, according to the NYPD.
Police responded to a 911 call for an overturned vessel near Liberty Island at 10:25 p.m.
12 people were rescued from the waters before NYPD Harbor Unit officers arrived.
During the search, Harbor Unit officers found a 27-year-old woman and a 5-month-old baby.
They were transported to NYU Langone Hospital, where both were pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
It is unclear at this time what caused the boat to capsize.
