Police: Nassau soccer coach charged with rape

A Nassau County soccer coach has been charged with two counts of rape.
Police say Sean Johnsen, of Valley Stream, had inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old female player on two occasions this past August.
The 35-year-old was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of third-degree criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child.
Johnsen is a coach of a Nassau County soccer club team, and his players range in age from 14 to 19 years old.
During his arraignment Friday, his attorney confirmed that Johnsen is a math teacher at the Fusion Academy, a private school in Woodbury, but the charges are not related to the school.
Johnsen's attorney Matin Emouna told News 12 in a statement, "My client has an outstanding reputation as a coach, teacher, mentor, counselor and categorically denies all the accusations of inappropriate behavior."
News 12 has also learned through his online bio that Johnsen worked as a coach for Queens College and the Franklin Square Raiders soccer club.
Fusion Academy told News 12 in a statement, "At Fusion Academy Long Island, we take our responsibility to ensure the safety of our students very seriously. Early this morning, we learned of the arrest of one of our teachers. We have placed the individual on leave pending the outcome of the criminal case. While we have no reason to believe the incident involved a Fusion student, we find the allegations deeply disturbing, and will fully support any ongoing investigation."
Johnson is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond. He is due back in court Wednesday.
Detectives want to know if there are more victims and are asking anyone with information to contact the Nassau Police Special Victims Unit.
