Police search for suspects accused of attempted home break-ins in North Woodmere

Police are searching for three people accused of trying to break into homes in North Woodmere early Saturday morning.
Surveillance video shared with News 12 by the Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol shows three masked suspects approaching the Plainfield Lane home shortly after 4 a.m. and attempting to gain access from different sides of the property.
The Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol says this has happened to three homes in North Woodmere.
According to the Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol, the suspects were unsuccessful and never made it inside the home.
Officials say the residents were home at the time of the attempted break-in.
The video has left some neighbors shaken.
"Definitely a little bit unsettling," said North Woodmere resident Sheik Mohamad. "Today after I saw that video, I set my alarm. It kind of heightens my awareness now."
Others in the community say the incident is a reminder to stay vigilant.
"You just have to keep our eyes open and watch out for each other," said Mordechai Heimliach, who works in nearby Cedarhurst.
The Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol says it has increased patrols in the area and is reminding residents to lock doors and windows and ensure security systems are activated.
"I'm going to take extra precautions now because that is kind of scary," Mohamad said. "Maybe we'd have to rethink that and keep all our sensors on in the home for the alarm. I have to rethink the way we do things."
Nassau police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
