The family of the NYPD officer who was fatally shot in the line of duty is getting financial help from across Long Island and beyond.
Michael Fay, of Massapequa, helped raise thousands of dollars for Jonathan Diller's family through the "With Purpose Foundation," which he created after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
Barstool Sports raised $750,000 for the family by selling shirts. David Portnoy, president of the organization, matched that number for a total of $1.5 million.
"I know money doesn't cure this - nothing can cure this - but it's the least we can do," Portnoy says.

The organization COP-SHOT will donate $10,000 to fund the education of Diller's infant son.
Other small businesses across Long Island are also pitching in by donating proceeds from their sales to the Diller family.
