UPDATE 10 a.m.: Lots are filling up at Jones Beach. Original story below the tweet.
State parks officials are encouraging people who plan to attend Sunday's Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach to arrive early.
More than 170,000 people crowded the beach for the aerial extravaganza on Saturday.
As a result, state parks officials said they had to turn away tens of thousands of people after parking lots filled up by 10:30 a.m.
Multiple major parkways were also shut down to break up traffic.
State parks officials say those who plan to attend Sunday's event might be in luck.
"So we think today's crowd is going to be the larger than tomorrow, so we are actually encouraging people to come on down on Sunday," said New York State Parks Regional Director George Gorman on Saturday. He also stressed the importance of arriving early.
"Come in early, get here by 9 a.m. and you won't really have any problems. After that, you may have problems," Gorman said.
Sunday's event starts at 10 a.m.
