Police: Man arrested in Montauk hit-and-run that left e-bike riders hurt

Police say they arrested a Holbrook man accused in a hit-and-run that injured two people who were riding an e-bike Saturday night in Montauk.
East Hampton Town police say 28-year-old Suraj Gaire hit the bikers on South Edgemore Street near South Euclid Avenue around 6 p.m. before he fled the scene. The two riders were on the same e-bike at the time of the incident.
He was arrested about an hour later in Amagansett.
The two men were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and were in stable condition as of Sunday evening.
