An Amityville woman who turned herself in for theft Friday was arrested after police discovered she entered the precinct with a loaded handgun inside her bag.
Police say Stephanie Incarnato, 31, went to the Second Precinct in Huntington to turn herself in for stealing items at the Dicks Sporting Goods on Walt Whitman Road. She told authorities the thefts took place on Nov. 17 and Dec. 1.
After she arrived at the precinct, officers found a loaded nine-millimeter handgun and multiple live rounds concealed in her bag. She was placed under arrest and was expected to be arraigned on Saturday morning.
