Police say a 38-year-old man was arrested after being found with a gun and a knife at a traffic stop on Saturday.
It happened on Weir Street in Hempstead just after 11:30 a.m.
Police say they pulled Darrell Barnes, of Amityville, over for a routine traffic stop.
Officers then discovered a loaded silver and purple gun with a red dot site and a 12-inch metal dagger.
Barnes is scheduled to face a judge on Sunday.
