Plainview house fire displaces family of 5 during blizzard

None of the family members or any of the 60 firefighters on scene sustained any injuries during the fire.

A house fire on Morton Boulevard in Plainview displaced a family of five on Monday, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's office reports.

None of the family members or any of the 60 firefighters on scene sustained any injuries during the fire.

The 911 call that alerted authorities was made during the blizzard Monday at around noon. The caller said the chimney and fireplace was ablaze. Firefighters extinguished the fire within 45 minutes.

The Plainview Fire Department responded to the call with six mutual aided from other nearby departments.

The fire is under investigation by the Nassau County arson squad but considered non-suspicious.
