Nassau County police launch investigation in Massapequa neighborhood

Neighbors said they saw officers and heard helicopters overnight.

Several blocks in a Massapequa neighborhood are closed this morning as Nassau County police conduct a large-scale investigation.

Neighbors said they first saw officers searching the area around Beaumont Avenue early this morning. Helicopters whirled overhead for hours.

Beaumont Avenue is still closed between Dover Road and Polo Road.

The scene is near Merrick Road and about half a mile from Massapequa High School.

Ambulances and the crime scene unit are on the scene.

Investigators were seen taking pictures of a car parked along Beaumont.

Nassau County police have released no additional details on the investigation.
