Officials from the Hempstead School District are accused of changing failing students' grades to passing.

Julius Brown, the district's deputy superintendent, tells Newsday that hundreds of grades were changed.

Brown says the school's standard practice was changing failing grades of 63 or 64 to a passing score of 65.

New York's education department is now investigating the practice.
