New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman has subpoenaed the Nassau GOP and County Executive Ed Mangano's re-election campaign.

At issue are campaign contributions from Sandy contractors and the purchase of a MetLife stadium skybox.

Nassau Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs claims Mangano hired friends and family members of county workers for Sandy-related cleanup jobs. In turn, according to Jacobs, those contractors donated to Mangano's campaign. Democrats also say Mangano tried to hide the contributions by having contractors donate to the Hicksville Republican Committee, which is headed by Mangano's chief deputy Rob Walker.

"It's an obvious attempt to evade the transparency required by law," says Jacobs.

Mangano's campaign accuses the Democrats of playing politics and told News 12 Long Island that it won't dignify the claims.

"Democrats are throwing mud and false claims to distract residents from their record of hiking property taxes by 42 percent," the campaign said.

The attorney general is also seeking information into the re-election campaign committee's purchase of a $204,000 luxury skybox for fundraisers at MetLife Stadium.

The attorney general's office has refused to comment on the case because it is an open investigation.
