Christmas came early for some children in Brentwood.

Legislator Sam Gonzalez held a holiday toy drive outside his office on Second Avenue.

Parents drove up to a mountain of toys as children picked out the ones they wanted.

Gonzalez says that the line wrapped around the corner.

"And to see the joy, to see the smile on the kids' faces, that's what it was about today," Gonzalez says.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says Gonzalez and his team brought the community together in the spirit of Christmas.

Gonzalez says his office and several community groups collected nearly a thousand toys for the drive.
