A gas explosion rocked a Hampton Bays home Monday, leaving one man in the hospital.
Fire officials say Ronnie Villalobos was in the boiler room just before 8 p.m. when the Shinnecock Road home exploded into flames. Villalobos suffered burns on 25 percent of his body. His wife, Laura Fernandez, and 5-year-old son, Sebastian, got out unharmed.
Villalobos was air lifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is recovering in the burn unit.
The family was renting the home and will be staying with relatives. It's still unclear what caused the explosion.
