Prosecutors say a 34-year-old Florida man faces charges for bringing guns and ammunition onto an Amtrak train.
Jeffrey Kennerck allegedly left a white zebra-print suitcase containing firearms at Newark-Penn Station in January and carried additional weapons, including a booby-trapped rifle, onto a train.
A New Jersey Transit police officer noticed the unattended suitcase, triggering the investigation.
The booby-trapped rifle discharged at the Trenton Transit Center as officers handled it.
Kennerck was arrested following the incident.
