Fallen tree causes power outage in Old Bethpage

A fallen tree in Old Bethpage caused a power outage that affected around 1,290 customers.

PSEG Long Island says the tree fell due to high winds around 10:22 a.m., bringing down multiple sections of wires and equipment and causing extensive damage.

Nassau police closed Round Swamp Road in both directions between Old Bethpage Village Restoration and Locust Road.

Most customers had their power restored withing an hour, according to the utility. The estimated time for power to be fully restored was expected around 9:30 p.m. for the remaining 27 customers on Saturday night.
