Man accused of stabbing person during fight at Greenport gas station

Police say 33-year-old William Mokus got into an altercation with 34-year-old Mario Viera at the Patriot Gas Station on Main Street last Friday.

A man accused of stabbing a person during a fight at a Greenport gas station is facing assault charges.

Police say 33-year-old William Mokus got into an altercation with 34-year-old Mario Viera at the Patriot Gas Station on Main Street last Friday.

At some point in the dispute, he allegedly took out a pocketknife and stabbed Viero.

Viero sustained a wound that required medical attention, according to police.

His current condition and the extent of his injuries are unclear.

Mokus was arrested at the scene and processed at Southold Police Headquarters.
