The 17th Annual Run Around the Lake in Lake Ronkonkoma brought together nearly four thousand people to honor an American hero from Patchogue.
The annual tradition honors Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy, who died in Afghanistan 21 years ago.
"It is amazing to me as his father that 21 years after he's passed, his story still resonates with people," said Michael's father, Daniel Murphy.
The event raises money for the Lt. Michael Murphy Scholarship Fund and organizations that support local veterans.
