A former New York Yankee outfielder convicted of sexually abusing a little girl in Plainview has been sentenced.
Rosendo "Rusty" Torres, 66, was sentenced today to three years in prison.
Torres was convicted of sexual abuse in July.
Officials say Torres molested an 8-year-old girl at a youth baseball clinic at the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County between April and May of 2012.
The North Massapequa man appealed the verdict, claiming jury misconduct, but a judge upheld his conviction.
Torres faced up to seven years behind bars on each one of the five counts.
