Daria Holubytska says Marvel, an 11-year-old female Husky, is “a huge connection” to her dad.

Her father died after a missile attacked the rubber factory where he worked in Ukraine.

She’s been trying to get the dog to her home in Huntington.

“Marvel is alone in Ukraine. We don’t have any family left,” she says.

Rescuer Kimberly Giunta came to her aid and reached out to as many people as she could.

Now, Global Animal Rescue and Response is helping.

“People who we didn’t even know…they risked their lives for someone they don’t even know and they got her out of there, the war zone,” Daria said.

Marvel is now safely in a clinic in Ukraine. There’s still paperwork to be done and travel to be booked, but Daria is looking forward to reuniting soon with the dog she hasn’t seen in nine years.

A webpage has been set up in order to help get Marvel home.
