"We have 50 service members and 12 vehicles, high-axel vehicles to be able to respond to flooding incidents and whatever the civil authorities need whether it's working intersections or evacuating people from flooded areas into safety," says Glyn Weir, mission support group commander of the 106th Rescue Wing.
There are also more than a dozen additional service members that are working in the emergency operations center to monitor Lee's path and deploy service members.
"We need to coordinate with other agencies, other Department of Defense branches to see where the issues lie around the Island during the domestic operations such as a coastal storm so that we can get a better feel of what kind of assets we can provide to the area, where we can send people to better help whoever's asking for it," says Senior Master Sgt. Paul Clementi.

Service members were spending Friday prepping the equipment so they can be ready to keep the community safe.
