Prices at the pump are up by around 25 cents since this time in July.

The average price of gas on Long Island now sits at $3.84 a gallon, according to AAA. A year ago, however, prices were over $4 for a gallon of regular gas.

Robert Sinclair, of AAA, says one of the reasons for the increase in gas prices is due to oil productions cuts from Russia and Saudi Arabia.

He says gas prices tend to go down following Labor Day weekend, which is when demand goes down.

However, Sinclair says if a major storm hit the oil infrastructure of the Gulf Coast, gas prices could skyrocket.

Drivers on Long Island say if gas prices keep rising, it could affect where they go.

"It's getting close to the point where you really gotta start thinking about consolidating your trips," says Rob, of Greenlawn.
