Police: 21-year-old man killed dog by pushing it down flight of stairs

A West Islip man is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly killing a dog in his home.
Police say Peter Minichello pushed a 5-year-old Chihuahua-mix down a flight of stairs at his Edgewood Road home last summer.
The dog belonged to a family member and died from its injuries.
The 21-year-old was arrested on Tuesday.
Minichello is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and criminal mischief.
He is due back in court on Aug. 1.
