Two contractors working on a Riverhead golf course renovation are accused of stealing $90,000 from their employees.
According to prosecutors, Ronnie and Donnie Adkins, from West Virginia, underbid the competition on a contract to install a new sprinkler system at the Bellport Country Club by $90,000.
Union representative Art Gipson says the brothers made up the difference by forcing their employees to work 60 hours a week, but paying them only for 40 hours.
The Adkinses' attorney, however, insists his clients' foremen were in charge of payroll.
The contractors pleaded not guilty to four felony charges. They are due back in court Nov. 2.
