The pandemic inspired a floral designer from Floral Park
to grow new roots for her business.
Winter on Long Island can be a little grey, but if you
know where to look, you can find a rainbow of colors.
People can walk around and view exhibits at the Winter Escape at the Queens
County Farm Museum.
The seeds
for the outdoor pop-up museum were sown when the pandemic hit in March.
That's when Laila Ahmed, a floral designer, found her business sidelined by the
lockdown.
“We were left with our
creative juices just put on
pause, and one day we
were brainstorming, well what can we possibly do to pivot, what can we do to bring this world of florals
and design to a greater community, and that's how the Floral Escape was born,” says Ahmed, Floral Escape co-founder.
There are more than 25,000 flowers adorning 15 installations for visitors to
explore.
From a gingerbread house to a vintage car and a beary cute
rose-covered arch, there's an Instagram-worthy backdrop that clicks with
everyone.
The floral
fantasyland is a fun, happy place for TikTok fans, too.
Ahmed says plans are in the works for a new floral theme.
