Police: Lakeview man charged with attempted murder in stabbing of 20-year-old in Franklin Square

Detectives say the 20-year-old victim was involved earlier in a car accident on the Southern State Parkway.

Police say a Lakeview man was charged with attempted murder after stabbing a 20-year-old man in Franklin Square early Sunday morning.
Detectives say the 20-year-old victim was involved earlier in a car accident on the Southern State Parkway.
When he left the scene, police say an unknown suspect followed him and a physical altercation occurred at the intersection of Rosegold Street and Sherwood Avenue shortly after 4:30 a.m. They say the victim was stabbed multiple times with an unknown sharp object.
Detectives say the 20-year-old who suffered lacerations called police who responded to a Franklin Street residence.
He was taken to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition as of Sunday night.
Authorities say they later identified, located and arrested 34-year-old Rashawn Marquez.
Police say Marquez was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third and fourth degree.
He will be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
