Violent crime down 19% in Suffolk, 3% in Nassau

New numbers show that violence on Long Island is dropping. Newsday reports that numbers from Suffolk police show a near 19 percent drop in violent crime between January and April of this year.

New numbers show that violence on Long Island is dropping.

Newsday reports that numbers from Suffolk police show a near 19 percent drop in violent crime between January and April of this year.

Violent crime includes murder, rape and assault.

Nassau police say they've seen a 3 percent drop in violent crime.

Both departments say property crimes, like burglaries, are also down.
