Crews have been working overnight to remove large amounts of snow we got over the weekend.

"It's been a lot to say the least," said Mount Vernon DPW Commissioner Damani Bush.

Since the storm hit, crews have been working around the clock, and that work isn't over yet.

Thursday coverage

"It's going to take, I would say, a few weeks," said Bush.

Mount Vernon crews have completed snow removal around City Hall and downtown Gramatan Avenue. Residents tell us it's made a world of a difference.

"Oh my gosh. It's so improved and the salt is down, too. So, even though there's still snow here, you know, it's not slippery or anything and I'm really appreciative of that," said Mount Vernon resident Penny Brown.

"[It] made it a lot better for the people that have to walk on the sidewalks because they opened up the walkways from the street to the curb," said Mount Vernon resident Eddie Fountain.

In the City of Yonkers, DPW Commissioner Thomas Meier says that the snow removal process has been going a little slow.

"Still a lot of traffic, still a lot of cars buried in the snow," he said.

Yonkers residents say they understand that this process isn't easy.

Both cities ask for more time as they work to remove large amounts of snow.

For more information on their removal process, check out their social media pages.
