A man opened fire inside a LA Fitness in North Babylon Tuesday evening, police confirm.

Suffolk police say a man fired a gun inside the gym around 8 p.m. during an altercation with another man.

Police say no one was shot.

“All the sudden we heard a shot ring out…and we all jumped up and ran to the window…and everybody was running through the gym towards the back of the gym,” says John Moloney, a fitness instructor at the gym. “And you looked down the aisle and there was a guy on the floor and there was like four or five guys on top of him and he’s just like holding him down and he’s yelling and stuff.”

Maloney says one of his friends called 911 and he says the police showed up within minutes.

He says people were holding down the person they believed fired the shot until the police came.
