A man has been arrested and is accused of trying to kidnap a child at a Bay Shore mosque.

Police say Nelson Priester led a 4-year-old boy away from a prayer service at Masjid Darul Quran on Wednesday night.

Police say the 39-year-old brought the child into a basement kitchen and barricaded the door.

A worshiper who saw it happen notified the child’s grandmother.He was not injured.

Priester is charged with attempted kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child.
