Police say they have arrested a man for possession of crack cocaine with his young daughter in the car.
Authorities say an officer pulled over 41-year-old David Kruger on Violet Street in Massapequa early this morning because of a broken tail light.
Officials say the officer saw what he believed to be crack cocaine in a bag sticking out of a pack of cigarettes on the passengers seat while his 8-year-old daughter sat in the back seat.
Neighbors say they were stunned to hear of the arrest and call him a good man and devoted father.
The girl was released unharmed to the custody of her mother, according to police.
Kruger is facing charges including criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.
