Police say one person is dead and another was injured in a Shirley hit-and-run crash.
According to police two men parked their car on the side of the busy William Floyd Parkway in a narrow shoulder to change a flat tire when they were hit by the car, and that driver then took off.
The incident happened during one of the busiest times of the day for this road as Long Islanders drove home from work.
News 12 is told the car the victims were working on was parked on the side of the road on the northbound side just before 7 p.m. just blocks from the Calabro Airport.
Detectives believe the car that hit the victims is a black Honda.
They say that car would also have front end and passenger side damage.
Police say one of the victims died at the scene.
The other was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.
Right now, they are not naming the victims.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
