Drive-thru fast-food chains are all over Long Island, but a proposal to turn a long-shuttered bank into a McDonald's is drawing the ire of some Greenlawn residents.
The proposal would demolish the dilapidated former Citibank on the corner of E Pulaski Road and Park Avenue and replace it with a 3,700-square-foot restaurant in the parking lot instead.

The bank, which closed in 2020, previously had a drive-thru window and the lot currently has two entrances, one on each side.
Many in the community have been outspoken against the proposal, raising traffic and public safety concerns.
Opponents said the intersection is already clogged with traffic and sits just two miles from Huntington Hospital, so additional traffic could impede emergency vehicles. Others added that the restaurant would not fit the character of the neighborhood, which is surrounded by several other businesses and a park.
The applicant submitted a traffic study that found the project would not significantly impact traffic conditions.
Tonight's public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Huntington Town Hall.
