A spacious, "beautifully maintained" expanded Cape in the heart of East Meadow - with four bedrooms, ample storage, and a roomy floor plan - might seem like an ideal home.
But would it make a difference if one of Long Island's most notorious serial killers - Joel Rifkin - murdered and dismembered several of his 17 victims there?
His house at 1492 Garden St. is for sale for $799,999. It sits on a corner lot in the East Meadow School District and boasts a 7,085-square-foot lot size.
According to Realtor.com, he was living at the home with his mother, Jeanne Granelles Rifkin, and sister, Jan Tsistinas between 1989 and 1993, when the crimes were being committed. They say remains of his victims were found in different locations around the property.
Rifkin was eventually caught on June 28, 1993, after a state trooper tried to pull him over for a missing license plate. He then led state troopers on a chase through Nassau County - with his final victim's body in his truck.
He admitted to killing female prostitutes from the New York City and Long Island areas and is currently serving a 203-year prison sentence.
