Inspector General Robert Devlin released dramatic bodycam video Tuesday showing a Bridgeport man lunging at a police officer, then stabbing her in the head, neck and shoulder, moments after police were called to the 100 block of Terry Place Saturday in response to reports of "an emotionally disturbed person" arguing with others inside a home.

The video then shows a fellow officer shooting the man -- identified as 45-year-old Huntly Jackson of Bridgeport -- twice in the torso, leaving him critically injured.

"The whole situation is sad for everybody involved." said Stevenson Bruno of Bridgeport, who's been following the story since it broke.

"When mental health is a factor in a situation like this one -- where police are involved and people end up getting hurt -- it's always very, very sad," Bruno said.

The officer who was stabbed suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, officials said.

Bridgeport Police will hold a press conference at 9 a.m. Wednesday, at police headquarters, to address the body cam video and a preliminary report released by the Office of the Inspector General. Jackson -- whose bond has been set at $750,000 -- is due back in court Oct. 22.
