Riverhead police: Pedestrian fatally struck by taxi on Old Country Road

Authorities say a car owned by Riverhead Town Taxi was traveling east on County Road 58 when it hit a pedestrian.

A 58-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a driver Saturday night on Old County Road, Riverhead police say.
According to police, 43-year-old Manuel Efrain Guazhambo-Inga was driving for Riverhead Town Taxi when he struck Jaime Martin Santos who was trying to cross Route 58.
Police say Riverhead resident Tawwana Brown, a passenger in the cab, was also hurt and treated for her injuries.
No charges were filed against the taxi driver.
