A Bellport man has been charged in what's been described as the largest fentanyl seizure in Suffolk County history.
Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney says Remon Gibson was running a major drug trafficking operation out of his home.
News 12 has been told officers found 33 pounds of illegal narcotics — including eight kilograms of cocaine, seven kilograms of fentanyl and a half kilogram of the sedative xylazine.
The DA says the amount of fentanyl that was seized could have killed 3.5 million people, more than the population of Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
News 12 has been told officers also confiscated around $80,000 in cash.
Gibson pleaded not guilty at his arraignment earlier this week.
He faces a minimum of 15 years to life in prison if convicted on the top charge.
