Long Island has learned that 10 Long Islanders have been charged in a massive
identity fraud scheme.
The
Suffolk district attorney says 13 people and three corporations created more
than 20 fake identities in the county.
The DA says the suspects made off with millions of dollars
through fake loans and fraudulent credit cards using stolen Social Security
numbers.
Officials
say the suspects targeted people with no credit history, including immigrants
and children as young as 5 years old.
Officials
say the losses could add up to $100 million nationwide.
