Police: Officer injured in crash while responded to assault in Wantagh

According to police, the officer was responding to a 911 call from a woman who feared for her life near the intersection of Route 135 and Sunrise Highway.

Police say an officer was hurt after a suspect slammed into his patrol car in Wantagh.

According to police, the officer was responding to a 911 call from a woman who feared for her life near the intersection of Route 135 and Sunrise Highway.

Police say Joseph Anderson choked the woman and ran when she called police.

Police found him nearby and say he approached them holding a pipe, then got back in his car, drove off and hit the patrol car.

The officer is expected to be OK.
