North Hempstead honored the legacy of two fallen police officers with street renaming ceremonies in the hometowns.
3rd Street in Manhasset was renamed after Joseph Coote, who was fatally shot in 1961.
North 3rd Street in New Hyde Park is now named after Robert Pickwick, who was killed in a car accident on duty in 1960.
The dedications come in wake of the Nassau County Police Department’s 100th anniversary.
It is a part of the department’s initiative to recognize a total of 50 officers who died in the line of duty.
