Police say a 17-year-old boy was injured after a gun fight erupted inside of a bus in Soundview on Saturday.
When a News 12 crew arrived on the scene after 6 p.m. the BX 5 bus was still near the corner of Story and Netcalf avenues right next to Soundview Park. Police were in and out of the vehicle as they searched around the area.
Bus riders were standing outside of the bus as police questioned them before they were let back inside.
Officers also spent a good deal of time looking at the back car and back door of the bus.
A woman who spoke off camera with News 12 said her son was on the bus and called her panicking, saying two people started shooting at each other inside and that he ran out of the bus as soon as he could.
News 12 was also told that the people involved in the shootout also seem to have run out of the bus and went west on Story Avenue.
The MTA said the bus was at stop on Story Avenue when the shooting happened. They said the driver drove the bus a little further to ensure that the passengers were OK.
Just a couple blocks down, there was another crime scene with the corner around 880 Colgate Ave. all taped off and more police presence.
The NYPD said as of Saturday night that it seemed like the only person who got hurt was a 17-year-old man who was shot in the chest. They said he was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals Jacobi where he was in stable condition. It was unclear whether he was one of the alleged shooters.
As of Saturday night, there was no information on who or how many people police were looking for.
