Nassau officials are expected to adopt a program that would create tough new safety standards for county roadways.

The program, called "Complete Streets," would pave the way for the county to install pedestrian crossings and bike lanes. The program has already been adopted in over 500 communities across the country.

The Nassau County Legislature is expected to vote on the program sometime next month.
