The Empire State Fair kicked off Friday at the Nassau Coliseum.
The festival features petting zoos, circus acts and a Ferris wheel.
There is also a new ride called the Gonzola Wheel this year that was built in the Netherlands. It launches people 110 feet in the air.
Families say if you're not into big thrills, there is something for everyone.
"We're actually having a lot of fun here," said Cecilia Castillo, of Frankin Square. "It's our first day here so, we just went on some of the rides. My kids and I, we enjoy it. We're looking forward to seeing the zoo."
The fair will continue until July 16.
