Man rescued from empty water tank at Stamford construction site

Firefighters had to conduct a technical rescue, using a tripod and rope haul system to remove the man. He was removed in less than 30 minutes and taken to Stamford Hospital.

A construction worker was rescued from a water tank in Stamford Tuesday, firefighters say.

Firefighters responded to 375 Fairfield Ave. just before 1:30 p.m. for an injured construction worker who was at the bottom of the large and empty tank.

Fire officials say that location is large multipurpose warehouse under construction.

Firefighters had to conduct a technical rescue, using a tripod and rope haul system to remove the man. He was removed in less than 30 minutes and taken to Stamford Hospital.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.
