Residents in Northern Nassau are expected to be hit the hardest with the possibility of more than 1 foot of snow.
Neighbors there made dashes to the stores Sunday to stock up on last-minute essentials.
Snowblowers were a hot-ticket item that appeared to be selling out fast, according to a check of local stores.
Other items like ice melt, ice scrapers and shovels were flying off the shelves at Glen Head Hardware.
News 12 found people rushing to local grocery stores. The shoppers said they are preparing to hunker down for the next two days.
