The Nassau District Attorney's Office has opened up an investigation into alleged voter fraud at the Hempstead Union Free School District.

News 12 has reported that the state voided the results and ordered a new election after school board member Victor Pratt won the race for trustee.

The state Education Department claims there were torn up ballots discovered.

The district's labor counsel also says an unusually high number of absentee and early mail ballots were casted.

The district has 60 days to hold a revote and says it's committed to ensuring it's done fairly, transparently and in full compliance.
